Sense Walk

As I walked blindfold through the trees
With sightless eyes I couldn’t see
Where my next barefoot foot would fall
It didn’t bother me at all

I stretched my arms to either side
My open hands both open wide
To stroke the grass and leaves and such
And feel their texture with my touch

My feet crunched dry leaves on the ground
On hearing I enjoyed the sound
And close at hand there chirped a bird
Its song a tune I’d never heard

The wind blew pine scent through the air
And cooled my skin, and touched my hair
My senses felt alive and free
Until I walked into a tree
